Our Little Ryker Man Update

Our little Ryker man just turned 2. About 2 months ago  - his vocabulary is around 9 words.

He spontaneously says:

Mom, Momma
Dad, Dadda
Bobba {bottle}
Out
More
Me
Ball

On occasion, when prompted,  he will say please.

We had his 18 month check-up and shots a few months ago. He was sick for his last appointment so he was unable to get his shots and we took care of the cold and rescheduled his well baby.

His doctor had me fill out a questionnaire and then asked me the normal questions. Dr. Selby said he should have a larger vocabulary. Around 50 words. You would think by now I would be an expert but I'm not. All of my kiddos have been different.

He only had a vocabulary of around 3 words until about 8 weeks ago when he said out after I covered his feet with a blanket. Then the next day he said me and ball. Believe me, Kale and I were overjoyed and I still didn't think a lot of it. He just turned 2.

But, we completely understand where his Dr. is coming from. If there is an underlying cause, we would rather do the speech therapy than to have him start school unable to really communicate or be behind in his communication skills.

By age 2 Morgan was spilling out sentences :) Colten was in that ball park and

Tyler - well he had a speech impairment. He didn't really start talking until he was 3.

I have middle-tone deafness in one ear {or both I just can't remember from that long ago}

So Ryker had a hearing test at Easter Seals and it went great. He passed with flying colors.

We wanted to blog about it and keep our family up to date on our kiddo. I was in shock hearing this but at the same time - at 2 it's been a little frustrating trying to communicate with Ryker. He can't use words so he either yells or screams out of frustration. I just want to hug him and tell him its ok but he's still frustrated. I know he's trying to tell me...but there are no words.

Prayers and more prayers for Ryker as he starts this journey.

We will post a few updates over time on his progress :) This post is about a month old so we will be sending out an update soon.

Ryker Wayne | 1.5

RYKER WAYNE

age: 1.5

weight: 22.8 lbs

Height: 29.5 in

Wears 12 & 12-18 months clothes

Daily Activities include:

roaming the house and getting into everything! He loves to pick things up and throw them in the trash.

Things we have found in the trash:

shoes, plates, spoons, sippy cups, shoes...

He obviously doesn't understand what the trash can is for yet.

He loves dumping things out. If he wants a small bowl of cheerios they all end up on the floor. Then he will pick them up and put them back in the bowl. Sometimes, throwing the bowl in the trash.

He is our outdoor kid. If it is not raining he is normally outside. He literally craves being outside. He adores riding on the lawnmower with Kale. He screams with excitement when he hears the lawn mower start up.

He is a daddy's boy all the way. For the first time I have lost one kid! He would rather be with dad than mom. Even when he is sick, unhappy or tired. He would rather be with dad. He screams when he sees Kales truck coming. He screams and runs all the way down our porch toward him every single day when he comes home from work. It's adorable.

He loves my swiffer. I mean loves the darn thing. Even though he drains the cleaner... sometimes I let him go to town {taking the cleaner out}. He also really loves our stick vac. I mean loves it! He's into anything that makes noise!

He loves the play place at the mall. When he is restless we head to the mall and play. Not only does he get some freedom, I get some freedom and then he takes a nice nap for mamma.

He loves bath time. I mean LOVES bath time.

Favorite Foods:

 sweet potato
cheerios
bananas
strawberry yogurt
cottage cheese
lime chobani yogurt
pancakes
veggie straws
gerber arrowroot cookies
chicken
pulled pork

It ALL ends up on the floor when he is done. 3-5 times a day! It's a good thing my little guy like to swiffer and baths!

THIS HAIR

Ryker has a rat tail. The rest of his hair is pretty boyish and cute/short. But then there is this tail on the backside of his head. I personally love it but I know we can't keep it. We are getting 2016 Family Portraits done next month and I've decided to cherish this cute little tail until then. Kale says I have to cut it off. So, I will cut it then!

SHOPPING with a TODDLER:

I don't even need words for this one.

Watch Me Grow

It's insane how fast our littlest guy is growing. I'm a little sad as he leaves the baby stage and enters the toddler stage. It's a good thing we went for permanent birth control because this is about where I start getting the baby blues! Kale even had the baby blues a few days ago. WE know it won't happen. I think our families will be glad to hear we actually CAN'T have anymore lol. But, the thought was there this past week. It was a cute moment between Kale and I. But, it ended quickly when we realized duh...not going to happen. So, as I insert these images to the post it takes me back. Our last little one. Goodness do I already miss his cute little bitty body. Happy 1.5 Ryker Wayne!

A Wild And Woodsy Birthday Party

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY RYKER WAYNE!!

Ryker's birthday party was a blast. Kale had so much fun doing all the guy stuff such as cutting all the seating, creating signs, making a tent and more. I had fun getting crafty!

I would definitely say that this was incredible and fun. Ryker absolutely dug into his cake which we had a good feeling he would. No smashing need in his case :) We had so many kiddos out that day. We did a scavenger hunt, hot dogs and beans, cake, smores...I mean the list is endless.
Needless to say, Ryker passed out on the way home from the party. He. Had. A. BLAST!
