Wells Radiator

Baseball Game Saturday April 28

This was by far the best two games I have seen my boys play in since the start of the season.

Let's talk about Tyler first:

Tyler began playing baseball last year. He played for Kirchoff Custom Sports which is still a division of North Youth Baseball.

He ran around like a little turkey with his head cut off. At that age ALL the kids did. They really didn't pick up too much on HOW the game is played.

This year is different. Tyler knows what to do. He knows to go stand on 2nd base with his glove up ready to catch the ball and get an out for his team.

He has also become very competitive. {for competitive parents like Kale and I this is good}

He has been tackling other children for the baseball. It's hilarious. His coach said he has a lot of game in him. I'm guessing that's a really good thing.

He also swings the bat with some force. He's got a pretty good hitter on him.

So Tyler is one of just a few kids on his team that know what they are doing.

Here are some pics of Tyler from his last game...

  ground ball...

No he is looking to throw it to someone for a possible out. If I remember correctly none of the kids were paying attention. He did get mad and throw his arms up in the air. The coaches realized he is a little competitive.

Patiently standing on 2nd waiting to catch the ball. Anyone?

His coach loves this competitive streak in one of his players. He is giving him words of advice here.

Up to bat...

and he hits the ball good enough to go to 2nd!

This is cute. I love it. Can't wait to see Tyler about a foot taller, a year older and with other competitive players. Right now he is not being challenged.

Now onto Colten:

This past Saturday was the best game we've ever seen his team play. This was a real game. This was a good game. This game was FANTASTIC!

North Youth played against Wells Radiator. The teams were tied 2-2 for 6 innings. We went on to play 8 total. Our team won of course 3-2. How they won was exciting. Our third baseman caught a ball hit directly to his left about hip height. He was standing on 3rd, reached his arm out BAM caught that ball then threw to 2nd. The 2nd baseman chased the boy about 4 feet with a tagged out after stomping his foot on 2nd first. This was a really slick victory!

This was a long game. It was such a great treat to see Colten THIS excited about winning. Colten is getting better but he is still a little lost in this BIG BOYS game of ball. This isn't the small field. It's the largest field Garvin has. He also plays on a team of 9-12 year olds. SO...this will take a year or two to learn.

Stealing has become a part of the game this year two. Colten hasn't picked up on this strategy yet but soon....

Wells Radiator has the chance to TRY and come back again Thursday May 24. I honestly can't wait to sit and watch this game. Coach told us that Wells Radiator is the only team comparable to ours this year. Makes for a really good game!

He has hit a few balls. He hasn't made bases yet. He's still learning. This isn't like it was before. These are 12 year old pitchers who have learned to strike-out opponents.

Colten gets a little disappointed BUT look at the difference in size of these players! Colten isn't event he smallest on the team. This kid is only 11. There are 12 year olds who play in leagues on his team. I tell him this every time he gets a little down.

He's HOT, TIRED and SWEATY! Welcome to baseball!

Well, I really can't wait to see my boys play some more ball. We have 4 games a week plus practice right now. Kale and I are exhausted!!!

We did treat both the boys to Cold Stone after this game! It was cold and refreshing and put a smile on everyones face!
